Call for Papers
“Il castello di Elsinore” is an Italian semi-annual journal of Theatre Studies founded in 1988. The
journal publishes two issues per year, in January and July, and welcome rolling submissions at all times.
We solicit international scholarly contributions that emphasize Theatre and Performance history
(section “Essays”), documents, letters and poetic reflections (section “Materials”), as well as reviews on
the most significant events of the international theater season (section “Books and Performances”). All
contributions undergo a double-blind peer review process.
In the past years, the contributions appeared on “Il castello di Elsinore” have dealt with different
arguments on the history of European theater, from Greek theater to Commedia dell’Arte, from Italian
Renaissance theater to Nordic theater of Ibsen and Strindberg, from European symbolism to
Pirandello, dance and music.
“Il castello di Elsinore”, directed by Roberto Alonge (Univerisity of Turin) and
Franco Perrelli (University of Bari “Aldo Moro”) is indexed with the “A” Classification by the Italian
National Agency for the Evaluation of the University and Research Systems (for the Area of Science of
Antiquity, Philological-Literary and Art-History) and is abstracted in several international directories.
All the articles are published with the use of DOIs.
